We're sorry, but this discussion has just been closed to further replies.
We as Hip Hop heads always debate with each other about what we like, dislike, etc. Dats the whole point of discussions, right? But in this discussion, I just want ppl 2 air out any beef they have, whether it's sum current event they dislike, a person in Hip Hop they dislike, or even sumone on this site...
Start out your replies with: "You know what's my beef?"
Example: You know what's my beef? Rappers who get hella co-signs by industry ppl, and they wack as hell...even though I bump his "Corner Store Classic" mixtape, I think Skyzoo is nothin' extraordinary...he's boring 2 me, but he gotta cool beat selection!!
I don't even know how to express all of my beef. But I figure I may as well try while I'm still fire engine red about it.
"You know what's my beef?"
People who read a few music industry "How to" books and think they have the music industry figured out. They deem it necessary to write blogs about how "stupid" they think their peers are, how they're going to be soooo much more successful because they know how to COMPLETELY run their operation on their own. Yes, internet and other new technology has made it possible for an artist to do things themselves, and if they sale to the same number of people on a label that they do independent, they are going to make more money independent. But, for the life of me, I don't understand why so many people think that equation equals instant success for independent artists, because it takes alittle more work than just that. And even still, unfortunately, talent and hard work don't always equal monetary success either.
And banking off of that, do you know what else I have beef with? People who think that because of Myspace, Soundclick, etc, and iTunes, CDbaby, etc, that they never have to hit the streets to gain an audience, keep people interested, etc. There is no just sit behind your PC instant success thing.
Another beef....I hate seeing people try to be everyone at the same time in an attempt to make money. "I want to be Common, Rick Ross, Ludacris, Cassidy, and DMX at the same time so I can touch more demographics". I hate that. I wish everyone would just do them.
Friends who suddenly decide they're a record label. You post songs on the net and do a little promo and suddenly BAM you're a fuckin record label. That's not how it works Dumbasses!
