The only thing I've scene are the kids with the flyer with their name in small print amongst 49 other names. So is this some bullish like a lot of cats were saying it was going to be or what?
Yeah they doin somethin. I think slop handles their joints and keeps em a lil busy. I'm definitely the hardest working MC right now if I do say so myself :P. Cockynessssssss. Anyone? Anyone? lol
yep its definitely going down. Some people think its bullshit and i just dont know why. Here you have 50 artist that in my opinion dont sound anything like one another. There were some folks on the network months ago trying to bash the 50 in some cases, but they dont really understand what this movement is all about. People should peep these artist and support.
you know........if rock or pop music engaged in such a project...i can almost guarantee that there wouldnt be so much negativity thrown at it from its peers. Now im not saying you are negative about it bro. PLEASE DONT MISTAKE THAT!! All im saying is that some people really begin to hate for no reason. Rawkus is trying to change the face of how A&R is done. Be on the look out, because the 50 is a movement. Thanks for the topic homie. peace and much respect.
Naw, it's not hate at all, just one of those things that seems like it went nowhere. Well... let me restate that. When the 50 were publicly announced it should have been closer to a release date instead of everybody promoing with their flyer and nothing being scheduled for a minute. So what I'm saying is it feels like some Detox ish. (ya dig) Like, "Oh it's coming" and you see ish, but no dice.
I think we're overlooking the essence of Rawkus Records. Its a label for real mentally stimulating MC's bringing that real hip hop ish. Now the kinda hip hop Rawkus represents is "underground" mainly because of the way the music industry is working right now so many of the MC's that are on the 50 arent making "huge" splashes because their music isnt commercial. And thats just fine. I believe the ideal of the Rawkus 50 project is to help these artists grow, build, and promote their artistry to the masses. And quite frankly its doing just that! I keep my eyes and ears open for events and promotions around the country and I always hear and see these artists doing their thing. Especially in the midwest. I gotta take my hat off to Slop for that ish. He's definitely helping a lot of talented artists that would probably go virtually still be doing the same thing they were doing before being signed. And we all know. Life is a journey not a destination. We're all in it for the ride. Live it!-ATLAS
Like I said I'm not hating, I actually think the concept is dope. Kind of like Lyricist Lounge 3.0. I was thinking of submitting my music, but the rules as I read them didn't quite specify if the music submitted for the project could only be used for that project. (as in if I was selected could I have the same track on my LP) I was also really focused on my solo LP and the other 2 projects I'm working on, so another project that wants roughly 10 tracks would have been a little too much for me. (but I probably would have made it work... oh well that's my own fault for not doing ish)
Actually I see their event, concert, and tour posts all over MySpace. I haven't heard much about it on "Rawkus's" own website. That's an oxymoron. But on the real I think they are down here in FLorida where I am at. Miami or something.
