The $10,000 Record Label Template

The $10,000 Record Label Template

"Based on testing and observation in 2007, we found out that CDs in jewel cases get transferred into binders or cars, because jewel cases are easily broken and get visibly dirty, quick. We also found out that “digipak” cardboard cases tend to stick around, get kept on coffee tables, kept with their CD, and they also age well, even if they’re all-white design. The price difference between looking professional and looking like everyone else is $100. The profit difference on the other end between charging normal CD prices versus upping the cost at least a dollar? That’s $1000."

Anyone with some experience have any commentary on this model? It seems more like a sketch, there's a lot of key details left out -- like software and e-commerce aspects.

Do you have any articles or insight on that subject or is that all proprietary for now? Anything you can point me towards, I'd appreciate.

yeah they left ALOT out, but I really liked this post. Its all about promo as Slop says, but its also all about not giving up, making GREAT music, and believing in yourself no matter what budget you have or don't have.
