Was the "Classic" video a breath of fresh air for you? Let me know what's up!!

I'm sure majority of you have seen the new video "Classic" with Rakim, Kanye, Nas and KRS-One...... But I want to get everyone take on how they felt when they first heard it......

This is my true feelings on how I felt once I first heard it AAAAAHHHH!!!! It was a breath of fresh air seriously. First it had Premiere showing cats how to put a track together, (to me he was fucking with alot of these wanna be beatmakers) then that bassline dropped and Rakim just sliced through that track with precision then they dropped it and that line when he said "Timeless, so age don't count in the booth when ya flow stay submerged in the fountain of youth", Man I had to rewind it like 30 times because that line meant so much to me. (Especially when people tend to put an age limit on how old you have to be to emcee as if 30 plus year old cats are too old to flow... oops I'm getting sidetracked)

Anyhow, then Kanye West comes on with his arrogant swagger, it seemed a little out of place at first but then I realized that's Kanye and he will always do Kanye even when he's amongst my top 3 Lyricist of all time.....

Then comes NAS you know he's going to give you nothing but Ether. ( Nas is taking so much flack for saying hip hop is dead but no one is taking flack for help bringing hip hop to the state of where a large majority of us tend to think it's really true... got side tracked again)

Then last comes the Teacher.... By that time I'm ready to jump out my chair, (I swear to god I felt like I was back in 199- something ) I was like Teach me something Kris..... and he's right I do wanna hear a Krs-One on my Radio Station. And for once in a real long time I listen and watched a video and felt like it was a life altering experience.

I watched it like 10 times in a row then I ran all over my crib looking for a pen and a pad.... Because verses and metaphors were spewing out of all of my orifices. For once I seen a glimpse of how it may come back around to us teaching and educating ourselves. But then after that I realized that I no longer wanted to just watch those cats do it, I wanted to contribute a verse to the cause too. I felt the need to get out and get even more involved with HIP HOP and how it's being presented in my community. I can't complain that it's not the same if I'm not willing to do things to change how HIP HOP is percieved. I realized that even though I'm in Texas (land of the candy paint and rims...) I still can change how I am percieved because like many of you I am too HIP HOP....

Your excitement motivated me to watch the video. Gave me goosebumps. Dope, I understand why you were inspired. The "R" killed it. Nas's verse was pretty sick too. Hell...I liked all of it! lol.

You know why this song is refreshing? They didn't do what these backpackers keep on doin: tryna force hip hop 2 go back 2 the old style of the Golden Era. It's refreshing becuz it have a throwback feel 2 it, yet ppl of 2day can relate 2 it, it sounds like it's current, and tell you the truth, you backpack rappers need 2 make your music like this if you want recognition. It's time 2 show these kids dat hip hop can still be tight old school. Word...Life.

Dangerous Science I agree with you 100% ... Back in the day I was what you considered a back pack rapper but I'm much older now and my views of the world have changed. Sometimes complicated metaphors can confuse people.... Hip hop had to evolve and we as emcees have to evolve. Classic to me was a sign of seeing cats pretty much in my age bracket still saying things relevant to today's times. The truth is hip hop teaches us to be B-Boys but it's ultimately up to us to become B-Men...... It showed me that age in hip hop means nothing, but substance and relativity supercedes everything else. Rakim Nas and KRs-one especially showed us all how it should be done, throught the hands of time! ( Timeless, so age don't count in the booth when ya flow stay submerged in the fountain of youth.......)
