Honestly I think its because that's what the people want to hear. It might not be what you or I want to listen to but you have to admit rappers are making a killing right now from cd sales and endorsements. So SOMEBODY is buying those songs!...lol....
Lastly, if you look it, most not all but a great number of the rappers speak of coming from lower socio-economic environments. A great number of people can relate to being poor in America. So if they only talked about things they have done, I think you would get alot of depressing music! If you are poor do you really need to hear every song on the radio constantly telling you how bad life is?? How horrible it is being poor? How they can't pay bills or live off a minimum wage check?? That's the environment most of them come from therefore, that's what they would rap about!
I don't agree with alot of we hear on the radio, but for alot of people I think rap music is an escape. They look at these artists and say, hey he came from a very poor family and look what he has accomplished! Rap gives some people hope.
Most dudes create some kind of character in their little minds and they become these fake characters from their mind. Everybody is not a killer and and everybody is not a gangster. If all of these rappers were killing all these people, the population would be in trouble.
One thing about rappers is some of them can't stand who they are in real life. So they have to lie about who they are in order to make people think that they're the shit and etc. Thats alot of people in different areas with identity issues. In hip hop, its probably more prevelant than anything.
i know right!! keep it real,tell da truth about cars,money people know they don't have,your story have 2 line up with your real life,lil' wayne didn't sign me cuz im 2 real,real n...do real things not just rap about it,eventhough i've had my share of being a knuckle head.......word!! so-dramatic out....
Why even bother wondering why certain people do certain things.....?
As long as you know what you do, who you are, what you about, who cares about what the rest does....
