International Collaborations

Seeing most of the people on here are from the US, and I am not (and some more with me), I figured let's bring up a topic.

International collaboration seems to be hot right now, whether it's mc's working together, producers teaming up with mc's, promoters getting involved, singers, DJ's, etc.

My experience is that it is the best way to open doors globally, and even a different route to get known back in the US. I work with a lot of people overseas and get a lot established this way, not just for me but for them as well, regarding shows, promotion etc. Even though I just got on Rawkus, and am not too active on here, I did get into convo with some people that made me wanna brainstorm on wanting to work together on some stuff.

How many of y'all are willing to collab with some people from different countries, continents etc.? Have you done stuff with foreigners (from whatever perspective you look at it, meaning foreigner) before?
Let me know your thoughts on this sort of things.

Hey what up Pay? Well......i'm living in Germany right now and i haven't really collabed with a lot of artist down here. The seen is very diverse and sometimes it can be hard to find true hip hop heads. I'm keeping it moving though. So what do you have in mind? Hit me up and we can talk. Peace and love

I'm in Canada and have made 6 mixtapes and 2 albums with artists from the US to England. The internet is a wonderful music making tool that benefits everyone!

Peace Pay

I'm workin on this joint that my man passed me From Germany.

I would like to work with more cats overseas and everything because all the beats in America are starting to sound generic. I wanna have that fresh for 90's type of beats... Those Pete Rock and ATCQ type beats na mean... Thats why I enjoy Dilla So much (RIP). The man just embodied that whole ol school ATCQ type of style man. But yeah... are any of you beat makers up here. If so hit me up.

I'm up for it. I did a collab here or there for a things so, thats whats up. The main thing is we need someone to organize how the collab will be set up. Will be one song or will be a bunch a songs for a compilation and etc. Also, we need deadlines and extensions for people to stay on track and get it done however they can.

I'm in the process of working with a producer from the U.K. In my opinion music is organic, it tends to take on a life of its on so if like minds from completely different places and cultures can get together and make music and its effective, that in itself speaks on the power and influence of music. Peace!

In many ways, the international scene is more poppin than the US scene. I think dudes here are just spoiled. Especially in the big cities like NYC. People just don't give a shit. Whereas if you do a show overseas the whole fuckin country comes out to support. I think it's funny/sad how overseas heads assume the US is more into Hip Hop than it actually is. I once heard this dude from England say, "I'd expect the average 14 year old in America to know who Jurassic-5 are." Most 21 year olds don't know who they are.

Getting back to the topic, I'm always down for international collabs. I once did this song for a DJ in Greece, and 3 years later he hit me up saying they were still playing it on the radio and heads loved me there. Now I just need to set up some European tours.

Nah man, not everybody overseas assume that about the US.....in my country we got a whole Dutch hiphop scene poppin right now its nuts. Everybody and their damn dog over here is "hiphop" now.
And its the same everywhere right now, almost nobody knows the history, they just jump on the bandwagon thats hot right now.

I do agree with the love though, i hear that from almost all artists I talk to from the US, that over here shit is more appreciated. If you get the tours set up, dont skip Amsterdam ;)
