Remember when we used to memorize our favorite mc's lyrics?

I remember loving a track so much where I would go as far as to write the lyrics down and memorize the lyrics. Did any of you do this?? I find myself not listening to a lot new-age hip hop due to the fact that most mainstream hip hop is just garbage and not worthy of even memorizing a damn punchline. Some of you may feel me on this. Key in on this topic if you loved some classic shit to the point where you needed to memorize the lyrics to express your love for the music.

If I listen to a song more than two or three times, the lyrics are automatically memorized, whether or not I like the song... it was never anything I had to put any effort into.

Co-sign Pizon... Same here... Even if I hate the song... I memorize the lyrics (e.g. I'm A Flirt)... But, I do remember writing down the lyrics to The Jungle Brothers - "Straight Out The Jungle" record when I was in 7th grade… LOL

Yeah dawg,

You just took me back on that one. Dang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the only reason I stopped was because I just got so good at remembering them because I had started rhyming myself after a while. But yeah I miss those days. You know what els I miss though. I miss the anticipation of waiting for a new cd to hit the store, and actually skipping school to go to the store and cop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and reading the whole insert front to back, nameen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss being able to really be a fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nowadays its just not possible. Dang!

Co Sign...

I don't even have to write down lyrics anymore to memorize them. All I have to do is listen for a few hours straight and I'll be good. I do that with Old Blackstar and MF Doom.

But yeah I miss really being a fan too. I mean what these people do now isn't being a fan. Thats waiting for the next flavor of the month to drop. Shoot I used to Apreciate the Cover Art... now thats getting generic too. LOL... even though I laugh at that... its sad to me.
