for the most part i usually strictly cop albums i know are from heads that are going to give me substance. but, when i need a break from the super lyrical cats i'll pick up or download a mixtape that's just a bunch of raps over beats. i think the good witty punchline emcees are entertaining, they also help me at times as an emcee to bring a different flavor in my own rhymes. i think having balance in what you listen to, helps you have an open mind to the music that you'll choose to make.

I'm one of those type of ppl who risk buyin albums. Usually I buy old albums, whether it would be commercial, underground, or old school. Idk how everybody else is, but I examine CD's, from cover art to what the title of their songs are. If it ticks one interest of mine, I take the risk and buy it. Let me tell you, I wasted a lotta money on sh**!!! LOL!!! But then good things also came out of it. The first MF Doom album I bought wuz Madvilliany. I didn't have a clue who this n***a wuz, but I seen him in XXL when they rated MM...Food? and I gravitated toward his image as a Doctor Doom type character. Ever since then, I took a risk to buyin some Doom sh** and now I'm a fan of his art today. This kinda make me appreciate all types of Hip Hop, but I go for the most unique individuals who are actual artists. Now I have a system I go buy: when I go buy an album, I buy at least 1 underground album, 1 commercial album, 1 mixtape, and 1 classic album.

I don't know about everybody else, but the only garbage I'm willing to waste my money on is from underground or local artist. I never buy into mass-marketed trash (theres enough people that has purchased their shit sundae). The bigger your media machine is, the less I support it. I mean, if you have all of this money behind you, at least fool me! No, they just say "hey! check out this piece of shit artist we found, he can put words together and dance! I don't think he's my cup of tea, but you monkeys don't know good music if your nigger mother put it up her twat while she was pregnant!" Thats the messge I see put in front of me on a daily basis. Now don't get me wrong, all machines are not soul-sucking, money pits. All emcees are not painful to the ears. I just believe all emcees are not made to contribute to hip-hop in the same manner. Yes, your punchlines are fire, but I don't want to hear eighteen tracks of it. I want to see your ass in person or a dvd or some form of visual capacity. I want to see you eating other emcees in your field of expertise. You all alone talking about imaginary foes as if they're in front of you does nothing for me. Now, if you can write a song AND rip off heads, then thats what I call multi-tasking.
