We're sorry, but this discussion has just been closed to further replies.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT OPRAH AND AL SHARPTON COMING DOWN ON HIP HOP, IS IT THERE RIGHT AND OR RESPONSIBILITLY HAVE THEY EVER SUPPOTED THE HIP HOP COMMUNITY LET ME KNOW!
Historicaly Mr. Sharpton has a right to say of the things that he says ,James Brown was one of his closet allies,he was with mr Brown during those turbulent years in the 60,s he learned from a great humanitarian,so some of you younger cats should take your head out of your maximum-gludius and just listen but on the other hand if MR. Sharpton can have MR.Imus fired and held accountable for his actions the same should gofor all the major record companies thats, where the stong powers that be should go right at their necks/Ms Winfery I have mixed emotions about her I personaly thought she screwed ludicris over on her show that town hall meeting was some bullshit if you know what i mean she should stick to what she does best convincing other cultures on this planet that all black peolple are not savages peace .feel free to call me at 415-424-8649/510-649-0379 ask for anthony peace
I HAVE A MIXED OPINION ABOUT AL SHARPTON SAYING SOME OF THE COMMENTS HE HAS MADE OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS, I FEEL JUST AS YOU DO ABOUT HIM BE A GREAT HUMANITARIAN OF THIS GENERATION, BUT HE MUST REMEMBER, THE PEOPLE THAT SOME OF THESE ARTIST REACH ONLY TONE IN TO THEM BECAUSE OF THE LANGUAGE THEY SPEAK AND THE THINGS THEY SAY. FOR EXAMPLE JADAKISS AND COMMON TWO GREAT MCS TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT AUDIENCES. THE PEOPLE THAT JADA REACH ARE MIGHT BE REAL STREET ORINTATED, GOING THROUGH TRIBULATIONS OF INCARSARATION , SELLING DRUGS ,GANG VIOLENCE ECT.THEY DONT BELEIVE COMMON THEY WONT GIVE HIM A CHANCE THEY FEEL HE IS A DIFFERENT BRED BUT JADA THEY RELATE TO THEY WILL LISTEN TO HIM HE SPEAKS THERE LANGUAGE. FOR THAT REASON IT IS UP TO HIM TO TAKE THE AUDIENCE HE HAS CAPTURED AND AS HE GROWS HELP THEM TO MATURE WITH HIM ALTHOUGH HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH THE STREETS THERE ARE OPTIONS FOR US BESIDES THAT. BY CENCORING WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS YOU STRIP THERE POWER DON IMUS IS NOT LISTEN TO BY YOUNG BLACK AND WHITE YOUTH HIP HOP IS THEY HAVE TWO DIFFERENT RESPONSIBILITES. I ASKED 45 PEAPOLE AGE 16-25 IN HARLEM NY HAVE THEY EVER HEARD A AL SHARTON SPEACH THE RESPONSE WAS 4 OUT OF THAT GROUP EVERY SINGLE PERSON HAS HEARD A NAS ALBULM.CASE IN POINT " YOU CANT SOLVE THE PROBLEM BY MUTING THE ARTIST, OR FAULT REVERED FOR THE WAY THAT HE PREACH ,WE SHOULD APPRCIATE THE SPEACH FOR THE PEAPOLE HE REACH. PEACE AND BLESSINGS KUSHOUN
Sharpton yes... Oprah no... But again, the attack should not be focused on the artist (like what Oprah is doing) But foucused on the industry (like what Rev Sharpton is doing)....
People like Al Sharpton and Oprah have the right to say whatever the hell they want, and if it happens to effect hip hop in a way you don't like then go grab a goddamn kleenex and get over it. Do ya'll not understand? Who the hell gets to decide who has a right to say what??????? How about people who don't like hip hop? Do you think they ask themselves "does Kanye West have the right to affect the minds of the young generation?" What would you say to that? You would probably be pissed as hell if that became a legitimate debate in America. Heres what Oprah and Al Sharpton are caught up on, dudes like 50 cent, D4L, DFB, bullshit like that, that makes hip hop as a hole look bad when they don't understand how complex and deep hip hop can actually get. But still, Oprah and Al Sharpton are way off base. If you don't like the damn music than don't listen to it. Artists can say whatever they want, and to censor artists because what you think they are saying is wrong is one huge step towards movies being censored, towards tv being even more censored, magazines, books, hell even what you say.
But do they have the right? Hell yeah they do. And if you say they don't have the right to criticize hip hop than you are just like them.....
You are way off base… We can say whatever we want, just like them… But what you fail to understand and what Oprah fails to understand… Is that it is not the artists fault… It is the sponsors, labels, and industry… And the images being sent out to the world of the black community is bigger then Hip Hop… It’s bigger then just making Hip Hop look bad it is making the black community look bad… Have you ever heard of a “Minstrel Show”? And I’m not talking about Little Brother… Do your research… You might learn something about this being bigger then just Hip Hop…
