"About 3 years ahead of his time and 3,800 miles from the birth-land of hip hop, Croup sits in his lab in Cologne, Germany and turns samples to gold - not only for German rappers but many in the U.S. as well. When any producer from overseas becomes known in America (or any other country for that matter) as one of the best to do it, enough is said. At only 22 years of age, Croup laces beats with some of the illest drums (which he spends hours compressing and mixing) and bass lines (which, on occasion, he plays on his e-bass) ever heard. His unique and distinct style is giving him exposure here in the states. Croup is working with artists such as Supastition, Goretex, Pack fm, Mr Mecca, Tonedeff, Napsndreds, Dan Johns, Dutchmassive etc. and soon to have plenty more on the roster. At a young age Croup took up both keyboard and drum lessons which didn’t interest him much (go figure) and even played drums and keys in a cover band for a few years. In 2001, music inspired him once again when a friend put him on to the underground hip hop scene in the U.S. Croup was inspired by such producers as The RZA, Madlib, Dj Hi-Tek and Jay Dee. Croup taught himself how to flip a sample and somehow found the hardest drums ever. You would think with the sound and mixing of his beats he has a professional studio and access to some of the best equipment around but according to croup all you need is a little inspiration and some insomnia to make some real ill music." - Don Cerino
